The wrecking of reality

If reality is real, there certainly is a God, one eternal God, maker and ruler of all. The undermining of reality is happening all around us. We are encouraged to believe in myths and fairy tales, and to choose for ourselves creatures that inhabit imagination. Unicorns, mermaids and all kinds of unreal creations, made from the imaginations of other people, take our interest above the beauty of the real and created order.

The curriculum in our schools is now filled with fanciful myths and legends about fictional beasts and characters that preform unreal acts and magic tricks. We are taken up with the futility of human imagination, to the detriment of the reality of the world we live in and the real that is all around us. The factual is now out of vogue and the fake has taken hold of our psyche. We love tales and novel ideas, rather than the reality of the world, even the physical world. Science has now been replaced with fairy tales and objective truth with the subjective ruminations of our fickle minds.

We have no time for the reality of God, nor much driving interest in His Word – the only guide we possess that will bring us to spiritual life. We have been deflected by the trinkets of this world and they have taken us away from the real – physical reality and spiritual reality. We are now allowed to make our own realities and believe whatever we like, no matter how foolish or untrue.

If God is not real, then nothing is real, and we enter a world with no boundaries or prospect of eternity. We enter a world without moral compass or spiritual life. We find ourselves living on a wild sea with no prospect of relief. There is no relief from lies, for there is no Truth. There is nothing and no one to hold on to and we live as flotsam and jetsam on a raging ocean.

We are being softened up for a new reality, an alternative truth that will be imposed on us and we will swallow it up to relieve our stress. We need an anchor for our souls, and the constant barrage of the fancy and futile needs to be tempered with the relief of the real. There are areas of false science which refuse to admit the reality of its own function and opening the door for all subjective choice and personal preference. We like to choose and so there are moves to keep us all happy through choice, but at the same time putting us in chains.

If we follow the road of imagination, it will eventually destroy us and render us useless and trivial. We will become less able to distinguish true from fake and our judgment will be impaired. We will swallow a new “reality” which is not real, but will lead us further and further from the truth and dupe us. There are those who have vested interests in all of us believing what we are told, no matter how fanciful, and who portray our loving God as a untruth. Truth has become error and error truth. Reality has been changed into myths and personal preferences about how we live our lives. The real world is not so interesting to us any more, but we love the fantasy world that is spun around us like a spider’s web.

Reality is not wrecked, we are just not that interested anymore. We need a reality check, a new interest in the living breathing world and not the fake we are being fed. We can escape with a dose of real life, real people and real experiences. We can find spiritual reality in the Living Word, and find the real God who loves us and will lead us and show us amazing things about Himself. Why be content with fables when the truth will set you so free?
