Conscience

The conscience is a mysterious, hidden part of us that troubles us and teaches us good from bad. It is an inner compulsion, guiding into doing right things and thinking good thoughts. When we go wrong, it hurts us by letting us know what we did was unacceptable and it helps us to not do it again. It is a very delicate mechanism and easy to ignore and beat into silence. It stops working if we repeatedly ignore it.

The feeling that you have done or said wrong is part of the progression of learning in the school of life and the conscience is our tools for developing that skill. If we listen to it, it will teach us the correct way to think and act and will help us to refine our behaviour and walk in the right paths of life.

To ignore it is the way of folly and the death of all inner guidance and correction. We can shut he door on all goodness and wisdom by just ignoring its precepts and promptings and give ourselves a lot of grief. Pain and inner upset is not always a bad thing and we can grow and change using this gift of guidance given to us for our benefit. It is important that we listen to our conscience that we will be sincere and honourable people, who live life honestly and with integrity.
