We all need our place in life – a sense of significance, that we are not wasting our time and effort. We seek this significance in various ways. Many look to the things of life to validate their thoughts, feeling and deeds. This world is not a good place to seek peace. Many seek this peace but never find it because the societies we live in are not able to deliver what we need.

Some go down unhelpful routes to cover their pain and disappointment with life. They turn to substances of all sorts, to stem the tide of distress that they feel. Some get a modicum of satisfaction from things in life and give their hearts to it all. Eventually disappointment sets in, as the feeling of success cannot be sustained for long.

Where do we look for the meaning and purpose we desire?

We must humble ourselves and look in the right place. The message is to be found in the Bible, the book God has given us, that we might find Him and know Him. It is a message of hope and encouragement as we seek the Lord and His purposes for our life. To find God is to find the answer to all our cravings and needs for we were made for Him and it is our highest power to praise His name. We can find our significance in the simplest of things and are able to live thankful and joyous life in Christ.

Let us look for significance in places that are suitable for us and in the person of Christ who came to rescue us from this present evil world. Then we will have satisfaction and reasons for living that give us praise and thankfulness.
