It is easy to fall into a state where your confidence is eroded and you become habitually fearful about all of life. As beloved children of God we are not called to live like this but to walk confidently in life according to the holy commandments of the Lord. Circumstances of life can cause us grief, but we fight so that it does not consume us. We cannot keep ourselves but rely on the great lovingkindness of our Lord and Saviour that He will permit us to break the cycle of fearful thoughts and bring us out into a plain place again where we are relaxed and feeling our Christian joy.
Fear can be so debilitating and grabs at our stomach and can overwhelm us. The Lord is gracious and knows what we can bear. He will help us and order the circumstances of our life so that we overcome it and can live fruitful and joyful lives for God. We take delight in all the provision of the Lord and all the glorious things He does for us every day. Gratitude is the key to the door of joy. It will take away our fear and let us relax our souls in the arms of our Saviour. Let us also reach out to other Christians around us that we will be fortified by the fellowship of the saints of God and minister to them as they minister to us.
Do not underestimate the evil intent of the enemy who will bring all your past sins to the forefront and accuse you, making you fearful again. Tell him Jesus has died and he will slink away for he cannot stand against the power of the shed blood of Christ. God will confirm you as you read His holy Word and trust simply, in what He has done for you. The Lord will help you build your confidence again even as you walk with Him. He will not let your foot slip and will send along what you need each day. Do not fret, it leads only to pain and evil. Always remember that God will protect you from all harm.
