Over analysing (over thinking)

Our mind is constantly thinking, even when we are asleep, we trawl through the events of the day and seek to make sense of them. The difficulty comes when we try to understand too much and delve into the depths with no real understanding of what is there. The mind is an endless fractal of thoughts and feelings that we cannot sort. That task belongs to our loving God who alone can reach to us and scale the depths of our mind. We must trust in Him and not dwell too favourably on our situations but hand over the reins of our mind to Him who made it. We are perfectly safe as we walk daily with Him and honour all His ways and obey.

The over analysing will lead us to catastrophic thinking and paranoid ideas about our lives. God does not want us to live like that, but place simple childlike trust in Him, that He will bring us out of our difficulties.

We can imagine all kind of falsehood and entertain thoughts of ending it all, but God does not intend us to go down that pathway of thought. We can overcome the overthinking by doing our regular chores and patterns of behaviour. This is why it is good to have routines in the day so that we can see structure and meaning. God will help us to find our way out of the trouble and remain true to Him and our own personality.

It is good to have a loving family, either our natural family or our church family, who will support us and help us in love and care for our situation.

We can find ourselves over-thinking about God and end up blaming Him for all the ills of the world. God is holy and will never do anything that is unkind or unfair, so if there is something we don’t understand we leave it carefully in His loving will. Do not be drawn in to godless questioning and stress everyone out with your infantile ideas that you can understand the living God! Trust in Him and all the questions just disappear as you bask in the loveliness of His love.

Similarly with your own life. Take each day as a gift and don’t knit-pick about every little error you meet. Do not continually criticise other people, for it is not the way of God. God has His precious people everywhere and will bring us all safely to glory at the right time. Let us rest in that eternal love that never fails… all our loves fail but He will keep us forever.
